Grip Care Instructions And Tips

  • Store your grip and stick at room temperature or in a cool, dark environment.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or temperatures above 75°F. Excessive heat may damage both the grip and the hockey stick.

  • Secure the hockey stick plug inside the shaft using a high-strength adhesive (super glue recommended). While the grip absorbs significant vibration, this vibration can gradually loosen an unsecured plug during play.

  • Avoid contact with sharp objects.

  • If cutting down your stick, ensure all sharp or jagged edges are properly deburred before installing the grip. Carbon fiber edges can be extremely sharp and may damage the grip during installation. Use a file or sandpaper to smooth all edges thoroughly.

  • For maximum stability, use Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape to prevent movement during play. Warlock Tape also helps extend the overall lifespan of the grip.

  • During installation, wear work gloves or nitrile-coated gloves to improve control and prevent slipping.

  • Due to pigments used in certain colorways, minor cosmetic color transfer may occur on light-colored gloves or palms. This does not impact performance, durability, or grip quality.

HOW LONG DO SICKMITTS GRIPS LAST?

With proper care, SICKMITTS grips typically last 6–12 months, depending on frequency of use and playing conditions.

HOW CAN I EXTEND THE LIFE OF MY GRIP?

We strongly recommend using Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape for optimal stability and longevity.

Additionally:

  • Store in a cool, dark location at or below room temperature.

  • Avoid repeated sun exposure and extended periods in high heat.
    Excessive heat can compromise both the grip and the stick.

ARE SICKMITTS GRIPS REUSABLE?

Yes. If installed without Warlock Double-Sided Tape, the grip can be reused.

To remove:

  1. Apply a small or large amount of soap underneath the grip.

  2. Twist and slide the grip off.

  3. Thoroughly rinse both the stick and the inside of the grip to remove all soap residue.

  4. Allow everything to fully dry before reinstalling.

For reinstallation, we recommend using Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape to ensure secure performance.

SHOULD I USE WARLOCK DOUBLE-SIDED GRIP TAPE?

Yes. Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape prevents grip movement during play and enhances overall durability.

Although originally designed for youth and junior sticks, it is recommended for all stick sizes to ensure maximum stability and performance.

Unlike many competitor grips that may shift during play, SICKMITTS grips remain secure when properly installed with Warlock Tape.

For Mastodon grips: trim Warlock Tape 1" shorter prior to installation.

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE USING THE GRIP AFTER INSTALLATION?

Allow a minimum of 30 minutes after installation with Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape.

To confirm readiness, gently twist the grip:

  • If it does not move, it is ready for play.

  • If movement occurs, wait an additional 5 minutes and retest until fully secure.
