Grip Care Instructions And Tips

  • Store the grip/stick at room temperature or in a cool, dark area.
  • Avoid leaving the grip/stick in direct sunlight or in temperatures of 75°F or higher for long periods. This will not only damage the grip but also the hockey stick.
  • Glue the hockey stick plug into the stick shaft. We recommend using super glue. The grip absorbs a lot of vibration, which can push the stick plug out of the shaft during play.
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects.
  • If the hockey stick is cut down, be sure to deburr any sharp or jagged edges before installing the grip. Rigid carbon can sometimes act like a knife and potentially cut the grip during installation. Use a file or sandpaper to smooth any sharp edges.
  • Use our Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape to prevent grip movement during play. Warlock Tape also helps extend the grip’s lifespan.
  • When installing the grip, use work gloves or nitrile-coated work gloves to make installation easier and to prevent your hands from slipping.

HOW LONG DO SICKMITTS GRIPS LAST?

6–12 months, depending on wear and care.

HOW CAN I MAKE MY GRIP LAST LONGER?

The best way is to use Warlock Double-Sided Tape. Store the grip in a cool, dark area at or below room temperature. Avoid frequent sun exposure or extended periods in high heat. Heat not only damages the grip but also the hockey stick.

ARE SICKMITTS GRIPS REUSABLE?

YES. When installed without Warlock Double-Sided Tape, the grip can be reused. To remove, apply soap underneath the grip, then twist it off. Before reinstalling, thoroughly rinse the grip with water to remove all soap residue from both the stick and the inside of the grip. For a second installation, we recommend using Warlock Double-Sided Tape.

SHOULD I USE THE WARLOCK GRIP TAPE?

YES. Warlock Double-Sided Tape prevents grip movement during play. Although designed for youth and junior sticks, we recommend it for all stick sizes to ensure stability. It also extends the life of the grip. Unlike competitor grips that shift during play, ours DO NOT—thanks to Warlock Double-Sided Grip Tape.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE USING THE GRIP AFTER INSTALLATION?

30 minutes or less. After installing the grip with Warlock Double-Sided Tape, wait at least 30 minutes. To test, twist the grip gently. If it doesn’t move, it’s ready. If it does move, wait another 5 minutes and retest until secure.
